Why should I shampoo daily or every second day?Updated a year ago
The scalp differs from the other areas of the skin in several ways. Firstly, the scalp has a lower barrier function, making it prone to skin problems as it does not have the same protection from unwelcome environmental influences. The scalp also has more and larger hair follicles and more sebaceous glands than other areas of the skin. This means that it is important to maintain a proper hair care routine, which includes washing daily or every other day to avoid sebum (oil) build-up and scalp and/or hair follicle irritation/inflammation which, if left untreated, can lead to hair thinning.
